It's something that I read about in an article by workerscompensationwatch.com and is entitled, 2016 Top Ten Workers' Compensation Fraud Cases: https://workerscompensationwatch.com/2017/01/09/2016-top-ten-workers-compensation-fraud-cases/.
Yes, it's not a current article. And, it's not an article referring to Canada. It's referring to what's been happening in USA.
Sigh...
I know. I live in Canada. And, what used to be called Worker's Compensation Board (WCB) is no longer known as that. For several years now, here in Canada... WCB is now called Workplace Safety & Insurance Board (WSIB).
Even so, that article proved to me, that injured workers are being hurt not just in Canada. But, also in USA.
If you read that article, you'll know that it stated (I copied/pasted):
What have you heard about fraud in workers’ compensation? Respected colleague Professor Leonard Jernigan presents his top 10 workers’ compensation fraud cases in today’s blog post. Professor Jernigan is from The Jernigan Law Firm in North Carolina and also serves as an Adjunct Professor of Workers’ Compensation Law at the N.C. Central University School of Law.
Adding in this year’s tally of cases to previous ones, the economic fraud of non-workers involved in the workers’ compensation system is dominant by a 77 non-workers’ fraud to 3 workers’ fraud margin, for the eight years total that Professor Jernigan has compiled the list. Be sure to think of this article the next time someone tells you about the need for workers’ compensation “reform” on the state level because of workers’ compensation fraud of employees – ask that person if they have any references for the alleged worker fraud – and feel free to use this blog post as a reminder that non-worker fraud is a much bigger issue in workers’ compensation systems.
It is unfortunate that this article is necessary, but I appreciate the important work Professor Jernigan does to compile these fraud cases each year. It makes for very interesting reading and reminds folks that fraud occurs on both sides of the workers’ compensation debate, though from a dollar amount, worker fraud is minimal compared to non-worker fraud.
Sigh...Yes, this isn't great for injured workers. Just as I'm sure you can understand regarding what was shared with you that fraudulent things happen. Evil describes what has been done.
In my heart, I don't believe that people who work for Worker's Compensation (WC) in USA, or for Workplace Safety & Insurance Board (WSIB) in Canada, are brothers or sisters in the Lord.
Why to do I think this?
I believe that if the workers working for WC or WSIB were born again Christians, they wouldn't want to be hurting other people. Definitely not... injured workers. For they wouldn't want to do evilness.
So, I believe they are unbelievers.
This made me think of Psalm 2:1, "Why do the heathen rage, and the people imagine a vain thing?"
Amen! Why do the heathen rage, and the people imagine a vain thing?
Why do unbelievers rage? Why do those people imagine a vain thing?
Why?
Because when they do not belong to God, they do not read God's Word, the Bible. And, they do not want to do what God would want them to do.
So, please pray.
Pray that everyone who works for groups who want to hurt injured workers, will become born again Christians... by trusting in/believing upon our Lord, Jesus Christ, becoming baptized, having a relationship with Him, and receive everlasting life. For if they do, they will no longer want to hurt people.
For this, I would be thankful.
Please, join me in prayer.
If you do, I believe God will bless you.
Until next time...
