Here on Life with Lynnie (LwL), I'll be doing something that a Facebook (FB) friend asked me to do.
What is it?
She asked me to write a testimony! So, I will, today.
Some of you may know, I wrote a book in the past entitled, Love Never Fails You... Here's a link for you to check it out: https://www.amazon.com/Love-Never-Fails-Lynn-McKenzie/dp/1613798105/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1521508841&sr=1-1&keywords=Love+never+fails+you...++Lynn+McKenzie.
Love Never Fails You... is truly a testimony, about how I've experienced life's trials and grief. Yet, God has helped me. And, will help you. So, that's why I wrote that book.
If you read LwL regularly, you'll know that at times, I write testimonies. But, not always.
However, today I will write a testimony.
It's not about something that has recently happened to me. Its about how and when I became a born again Christian.
Yes, I gained salvation by trusting in/believing upon our Lord, Jesus Christ. Much like what is stated in Acts 16:31, "And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house."
But, when did this happen?
Hmmm... I wish I could say. But, I'm not sure. So, I'll let you know.
As a young child, my parents moved our family from Montreal, Quebec, Canada, to Detroit, Michigan, USA.
When I was about four and a half (4 1/2) years old, we lived in an area of Detroit, on Tuller St. The house we lived in, I saw many years later, when I was an adult. But then, I found out that the house burned down. :'(
Living there, I began going to school, at what is called now... Fitzgerald Elementary School, on Puritan Ave. I must admit, that I learned how to read and spell. But, later moving back into Canada, I had to learn how to spell all over again!! :)
While living on Tuller St., my mom (and sometimes both my mom and my dad) took my brother and I to church. Yes, we went to Sunday school! I also sang with a children's choir. And, participated in an event where I had to work as an actor and singer. :)
However, while there, I came to know Jesus.
I recall sitting and hearing so much about Jesus, that I accepted Him. And, loved Him. And, knew Jesus loved me.
A few years later, we moved back into Canada. We lived in various places. Different cities. Sometimes we worshipped at churches. Sometimes we didn't.
Even so, I thought about Jesus. And, looked to Him, in many ways.
In Clarkson, that later became part of Mississauga, Ontario (beside Toronto on the west side), while at school, I received a Gideon New Testament Bible. To me, it was truly a blessing.
I sat on the steps of our doorway, reading the Bible. My heart felt wonderful being drawn back to Jesus, even stronger. And, I recall committing myself to Jesus, again.
With moving over and over again, I didn't always attend church. Or, even read my Bible.
However, every time there was family problems, I recall laying in bed and or being near the issues, and praying to Jesus... to help and protect me and my family. He did, in many ways.
As an adult, I had terrible issues of life. Even though there were times when I worshipped, there were times when I didn't worship, always. But, I still always thought about Jesus, relied on Him and prayed.
When my life truly fell apart, and I moved to another location, I unpacked and saw my old Gideon New Testament Bible. And, began reading it, again.
I recall tears in my eyes, as I was laying in bed, reading the Bible. I got out of bed, and kneeled down and prayed. Even though I was crying, I recommitted myself to Jesus. And, afterwards felt so much better. :)
Please know that even though I have been saved, I honestly can not say when and/or where I gained salvation. But, I'm truly happy that I recommitted myself to our Lord. I got re-baptized. And, I read the entire Bible, every year!
If you know me, you are aware that I have suffered very much in my life. It hasn't been easy. But, God is good. He's always there for me, and helps me.
He loves me. I love Him.
And, I always will!
Thank You, Lord!
Until next time...
