Yes, we met in front of Workplace Safety and Insurance Board (WSIB), that used to be called Workers Compensation Board (WCB), and was more supportive of injured workers then it is now as called WSIB.
As I mentioned previously, about 40 people met together.
In addition, workers from Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC), here in Windsor, Ontario, Canada met with us. Yes, they filmed part of our group meeting.
On the news that evening, CBC talked about what we did, to support Injured Workers.
However, later... CBC placed an article online, with a video. The article is entitled, Union 'carolers' perform songs in support of injured workers outside WSIB building. Please, click on this link, to read the article and watch the video: http://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/windsor/carol-windsor-injured-workers-1.4443744.
Even though CBC thought we were all union people, I want you to know that isn't true. I'm not. Not everyone there was, even though we injured workers were supported by union members.
Hopefully, you clicked on the link I shared with you, read the article and watched the video.
If you did, you'll know that the article stated (I copied/pasted):
Activists say workers compensation systems are failed and they would also like to see change to health and safety codes.
A petition calling for the better treatment of workers was being signed at the rally. Once it's gathered enough signatures it will be presented at Queen's Park. Windsor was one of eight cities to host a protest today.
Oooeee!Eight cities hosted a protest! Hallelujah!
If you watched the video, you'll know that we sang a different version of what was called... Holiday Carol (not Christmas Carol), that was entitled, Deck the Halls (With Workers' Rights). The lyrics are below.
Deck the Halls (With Workers' Rights)
Deck the halls with workers' rights Fa la la la la la la la la
We won't have a silent night Fa la la la la la la la la
Phantom jobs, we must be dreaming Fa la la la la la la la la
Time to put an end to *deeming Fa la la la la la la la la
See our benefits cut before us Fa la la la la la la la la
Fake retraining, no jobs for us Fa la la la la la la la la
Numbers crunched in merry measure Fa la la la la la la la la
Employers grab the stolen treasure Fa la la la la la la la la
Getting injured is no circus Fa la la la la la la la la
Benefits should be for workers Fa la la la la la la la la
Fast away the old year rushes Fa la la la la la la la la
Hail the new, and fight for justice! Fa la la la la la la la la
As the lyrics form stated (I typed it so you can understand):
*Deeming is when the WSIB says you could have a job, even though you don't, and even if you can't find anyone to hire you. They cut your benefits by the amount of the wage they think you 'could' be earning (but are not earning, and probably never will be). In essence, they create a "phantom job" for you that you don't have. End deeming - no cuts based on phantom jobs!
Sigh...
Talk about sinfulness.
Hopefully, you feel the same way I do. For, how could anyone think this is good what WSIB does, when it hurts people?
After all, they claim that they want to help people who are injured workers. Yet, they truly do not.
Proof that what WSIB does is sinful, we can read, in James 4:17, "Therefore to him that knoweth to do good, and doeth it not, to him it is sin."
Amen!
To him that knoweth to do good, and doeth it not, to him... it is sin.
Please pray.
Pray for people who were injured while working, meaning they became injured workers.
Pray for families of people who died while being injured at work.
Pray for those who are not injured workers, who are in support of those who are injured workers.
And, please.. pray that our government will make WSIB to do what should be done to help injured workers.
Thank you.
May God bless you.
Until next time...
