Long Live Life

If you read Life with Lynnie (LwL) yesterday, you'll know that I have had a problem.  The problem has been for several weeks.

It involves friendship.  Friendship, that may be destroyed.

I feel I should tell you about what happened.

Although some people knew long before me, I found out in August 2016, that Airmiles.ca wanted us to use our airmiles points before the end of December 2016, or else they would throw away the points.  So, I spoke with a few friends, because I wasn't sure if everyone knew about it.

When I spoke with my friend, whose relationship now seems to be gone, I told her I was going to call a friend in another city, to see if she would like to go on a cruise with me.  This friend I spoke with, said I didn't need to call my other friend, because she would like to go with me.

I was surprised hearing that.

At the same time, I thought it was a nice idea, because she has never before been on a cruise.  I have, several times in the past, but not since my now deceased husband, Gordon was alive.

After discussing the cruise I thought was good, she agreed.

I spent many hours contacting Airmiles.ca.  Yes, many... many... many hours, waiting on hold, before being able to speak with a representative.  Then, many... many... many more hours on hold again, waiting to speak to a representative from their vacation department.

Why?  You see, even though they have an online website, it can't be used to obtain cruises.  Instead, I had to be able to speak with one of their travel agents.

After speaking finally, I found out that I had to wait two (2) weeks to be called by their travel agent.

Sigh...

Before I booked the cruise, I want you to know that I asked my friend to drive to Florida, to go on the cruise.  She said she would.

After I booked the cruise for us, and paid for the cruise for her and I with my airmiles points (because she didn't have enough airmiles points to pay for her cruise portion), she let me know she didn't want to drive.  She said she wanted to fly.

To get to Florida, I realized that if she didn't want to drive together, then it would be necessary for me to fly, with her.

However, at the time she wasn't ready to arrange the air flight.  Why?  Because she wanted to be able to save to pay it.

Knowing that we couldn't wait long, I told her that if she would agree to do a car rental with me for a couple of days, then I would use more of my airmiles points to pay for her flight and mine.  You see, the flight planned through Airmiles.ca only allowed us to go for the cruise time, plus those extra couple of days.  She agreed.

Although neither of us had to pay for the cruise or airfare, we did each pay for the taxes, port charges, fees, etc. that we were charged with.  Even so, by using all those points for my friend, I saved her from spending between $1,000-1,100.

I did so, because I enjoyed our friendship.  And, loved her.

Thinking about love, reminded me of 1 John 4:12, "No man hath seen God at any time. If we love one another, God dwelleth in us, and his love is perfected in us."

Yes, I felt God was dwelling in us, and His love was perfected in us.

I should let you know that I've known my friend for many years.  And, felt she loved me, too.

While I had done nice things for her, she had also done nice things for me.

So, this is why I showed her more love.

This is why I was thankful that God provided.

Time after time, I thanked Him.  And, will still do so, today.

Thank You, Lord!

Until next time...
