Rain Check?!

Something happened last week that I decided I would tell you about, here on Life with Lynnie (LwL).

Some people might think it is a silly thing to mention.  But, others may not feel this way.

To me, it's a rather funny thing.  And, a blessing.  Even though it is something I have NEVER done before.

On the evening of Tuesday, January 3rd, I decided to do some laundry late in the evening.  I went to the laundry room and began washing the towels in the washing machine.

As I was leaving the laundry room I noticed the newspaper fellow had left shopping ads for us.  So, I decided to look through a few.

My goodness!

I read the ad for Shoppers Drug Mart.  In the ad, it showed that they had on sale an item I truly wanted.

Butter.

Okay.  Laugh, if you like.

I used margarine years ago, but haven't for many years, now.  I use butter, because I feel it is healthier.

However, I don't like the price of butter!

Recently, I prayed and asked God to provide me with butter that was on sale.  Just as He had done in the past.  Yes, in the past, I stocked up and froze it in my freezer.

When I saw that there was only about a half hour left for the time of the sale price being available, I was shocked!

Instead of getting dressed, I stayed in my nightgown, and house coat.  I added my winter coat over top, and left home, as quickly as I was able to.

Even though I had my winter coat on, the man who seems to be the manager of the store, looked at me and smiled.  You see, anyone/everyone could see that I was wearing a nightgown and housecoat, underneath my winter coat!

When this happened, I let him know that I had just seen the ad, and realized that I didn't have time to get dressed, before I went there.  We both laughed.

Then, I went to pick up the butter.  I only found one (1) pound of butter.  :(

I asked a salesperson if there was another location where butter could be found.  He showed me.  There wasn't any.  :(

When I went to pay for the pound of butter and the dozen eggs, I asked the man I thought was the manager if I they had any more in the back room.  He said they didn't.

I asked if I could pre-pay for a few more pounds of butter, and obtain it, when they receive more.  He said I couldn't.

But, he said he would give me a rain check for a few pounds of butter, at the sale price.

Wow!  I almost had heart failure!

Nothing like this had ever happened in the past, for me.  I was truly shocked, because stores usually only allow you to buy what they have on their shelves, at a sale price.

But, I was truly thankful.

Thinking of being thankful, made me also think about how God had answered my prayer, requesting He provide for me in this way... a silly way that most people would think God wouldn't respond.

But, He did.

Thinking of this, brought to mind, John 15:7, "If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you."

Hopefully, you realize that I do this.  For, He said that if ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done for you.

Please, do this for yourself.

Abide in Him.  Let His words of the Bible abide in you.

Then, if you do this, ask what you will, and it shall be done for you.

If you do this, I'm sure you'll find yourself thankful.  Just as I feel.

Again, I must say that I am thankful.

Thank You, Lord!

Until next time...
