Before I begin today's Life with Lynnie (LwL) entry, I'd like to wish my grandson, S... Happy Birthday! I am looking forward to seeing you. Happy Birthday!
Being New Year's Eve, it's a special day.
The year 2016 is ending, today. And, 2017 will be beginning, tomorrow.
Even though it is past the day when many people celebrate Jesus' birth, I thought about sharing this CHRISTmas carol with you. It's entitled, It Came Upon A Midnight Clear. Here is a link for you to click on, so you can listen to and/or sing along: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XQjpDKKPDK4. The lyrics are below.
It Came Upon A Midnight Clear
It came upon the midnight clear,
That glorious song of old,
From angels bending near the earth,
To touch their harps of gold:
'Peace on the earth, good will to men,'
From heaven's all-gracious King.
The world in solemn stillness lay,
To hear the angels sing!
Still thro' the cloven skies they come,
With peaceful wings unfurled;
And still their heavenly music floats
O'er all the weary world:
Above its sad and lowly plains
They bend on hovering wing,
And ever o'er its Babel sounds
The blessed angels sing.
For lo! the days are hastening on,
By prophets long foretold,
When with the ever-circling years
Comes round the age of gold;
When peace shall over all the earth
Its ancient splendors fling,
And the whole world send back the song
Which now the angels sing!
You may be wondering why I would want to share this CHRISTmas carol with you. The reason is, because it touches my heart.
Not just because of Jesus' birth. But, also because of it speaking about 'Peace on the earth, good will to men,' From heaven's all-gracious King.
On a day like today, with the year ending and a new year due to begin, I am grateful that peace is important.
Just as we read, in Hebrews 12:14, "Follow peace with all men, and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord:"
Yes, we need to follow peace with all men, and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord.
Those of us who are truly born-again Christians, realize how important peace is. And, we know we shall see the Lord, because we have gained salvation by trusting in/believing upon our Lord, Jesus Christ (Acts 16:31).
Have you gained salvation?
If not, do so today.
Tomorrow, may be too late.
Until next time...
