H.B. G?... Alone?

Like I've said in the past here on Life with Lynnie (LwL), today is our Lord's Day!

However, today is also another special day.

If my deceased husband, Gordon was still alive, it would be his birthday.  Then, I would wish him... Happy Birthday!

Knowing he is in heaven with our Lord, I doubt if he's even thinking about the date being the anniversary of his birth.  So, there is no point in me trying to wish Gordon... Happy Birthday!

Even though it is a rather sad day for me, I love the fact that today is our Lord's Day.  SONday!

A hymn came to mind and even though I shared it with you long ago, I'll share it again, today.

This hymn was written by Keith Getty and Stuart Townend.  They are from Northern Ireland.

In fact, I believe that Keith Getty is probably a relative of mine.  lol

My great-grandmother's maiden name was also Getty.  Both she, and Keith are from the same part of Northern Ireland, so I believe they are probably related.  If so, so are we!

In any case, I adore the hymn.  It's sung by Keith Getty's wife, Kristyn Getty and entitled, In Christ Alone.  Here is a link for you to be able to listen to and/or sing along:  The lyrics are below.

In Christ Alone

In Christ alone my hope is found;
He is my light, my strength, my song;
This cornerstone, this solid ground,
Firm through the fiercest drought and storm.
What heights of love, what depths of peace,
When fears are stilled, when strivings cease!
My comforter, my all in all—
Here in the love of Christ I stand.

In Christ alone, Who took on flesh,
Fullness of God in helplessness!
This gift of love and righteousness,
Scorned by the ones He came to save.
Till on that cross as Jesus died,
The wrath of God was satisfied;
For ev'ry sin on Him was laid—
Here in the of Christ I live.

There in the ground His body lay,
Light of the world by darkness slain;
Then bursting forth in glorious day,
Up from the grave He rose again!
And as He stands in victory,
Sin's curse has lost its grip on me;
For I am His and He is mine—
Bought with the precious blood of Christ.

No guilt in life, no fear in death—
This is the pow'r of Christ in me;
From life's first cry to final breath,
Jesus commands my destiny.
No pow'r of hell, no scheme of man,
Can ever pluck me from His hand;
Till He returns or calls me home—
Here in the pow'r of Christ I'll stand.
No pow'r of hell, no scheme of man,
Can ever pluck me from His hand;
Till He returns or calls me home—
Here in the pow'r of Christ I'll stand.

If you know me, you'll be aware that I have had a terrible life.  Not in all ways, but in many.  Including my health.

I haven't written and/or posted blog entries here on LwL for quite a while.

It's because I have not been well.  I spent some time in hospital.  Now, I'm home, but I am still in need of healing.

Knowing that I miss Gordon, it also makes me sad knowing today would have been his birthday.

It doesn't seem to matter how much love, grief or trusting in our Lord, I have.  Why do I feel this way?

Because God is in control.  Not me.

I'm trusting in my Lord, Jesus Christ.  For He is my strength... and so much more.

Just as we read, in Psalm 28:7, "The Lord is my strength and my shield; my heart trusted in him, and I am helped: therefore my heart greatly rejoiceth; and with my song will I praise him."

Even though there is heartbreak in my life, I am glad my heart trusts in my Lord, for He helps me.

This makes me rejoice.  And, I will always praise Him in many ways.

Like, even with the music I shared with you, today.

Thank You, Lord!

Until next time...
