If you read yesterday's Life with Lynnie (LwL) entry, you'll know that it was a rather stressful day for me. Well, today isn't much different.
Today, being October 1st, is a day when I feel badly.
You see, this is the 6th anniversary of the day my now deceased husband, Gordon collapsed and was taken by ambulance to the hospital. Well actually, it was in the evening. About bedtime.
Thinking of what happened, doesn't make me feel happy.
Especially, since it led up to Gordon's death.
Even so, Gordon's death was only death unto himself. In a physical way, I mean.
That doesn't mean that he died and didn't live for Christ. Even though some people may not believe this is possible, it truly is. And was, for Gordon.
After all, we can die to self. And, live for Christ. Even during our life, here on earth.
Here is a Youtube video (one part of a series) by Andrew Murray, entitled: Humility And Death To Self http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DR8cBfcGR4o&feature=share In it, Andrew Murray explains more clearly than I could possibly do, what it means to die to self and live for Christ.
This link that I am sharing with you is by evolutionvsgod.com and is entitled the same thing, Evolution vs God: http://www.evolutionvsgod.com/. Please... watch it/listen to it. There is a video on the page, and is absolutely wonderful.
Thinking about dying to self, and living for Christ, made me think of Romans 14:7-8, "For none of us liveth to himself, and no man dieth to himself.
8 For whether we live, we live unto the Lord; and whether we die, we die unto the Lord: whether we live therefore, or die, we are the Lord's."
Just as we read in today's Bible verses, none of us liveth to himself, and no man dieth to himself.
Whether we live unto the Lord, and whether we die, we die unto the Lord. For, we belong to the Lord.
Well, this is true, but only if a person has gained salvation.
How does someone gain salvation?
Salvation is gained, by trusting in/believing upon our Lord, Jesus Christ.
That's it. That's the only way. There is no other way to gain salvation.
For, just as Jesus told us... He is the Way, the Truth and the Life; no man cometh to the Father, but by Him. (Romans 14:6).
My friend, your life will one day end.
You may collapse first, like my husband Gordon did. But, at some point, your life will end. Just as his did.
If you want to avoid spending eternity in Hell, with no chance of escape... come to Jesus, today. Tomorrow may be too late.
Until next time...
