WCB vs WSIB...

If you read yesterday's Life with Lynnie (LwL) entry, you'll know that I mentioned at that Media Safe workshop, that I know someone who had to go to court, and the postings he made on Facebook (FB) were used as evidence against him.

You're probably aware of who it is I am referring to.

It is a fellow injured worker, who doesn't consider himself an injured worker.  He considers himself a disabled worker.  And, so he is!

I'm referring to Mike Spencer.

Mike Spencer, is the person I wrote about previously, in a LwL entry on March 28, 2015.  Here's a link, in case you didn't read that entry:  http://www.lifewithlynnie.com/2015/03/nothing-greater.html.

As I mentioned previously, Mike Spencer is now living in poverty.  After being injured on his job, he is now living on $610.00 per month.

He was upset with how he has been treated by the Workplace Safety and Insurance Board (WSIB), that used to be called Worker's Compensation Board (WCB), in the past.

Not to change the subject, but just looking at the difference between the past name and the current name of the organization who is supposed to be there for injured workers, it strikes me as being understandable why the system isn't truly helping all injured workers, the way they should; at least, in my opinion.

After all, WCB was originally set up to help people who were injured on the job.  And, provide for them, in various ways, depending upon their physical status, after being injured on the job.

So, it's easy to see that WCB provided compensation.

However, that same organization is now called WSIB.  Hmmm... safety?  And, insurance?

Since when has insurance ever been there for people, completely?

In my opinion, insurance companies, usually try to find ways to not help anyone who has had to file a claim for whatever reason they have insurance coverage for.  At least, that is what has happened to me, in the past, in issues not relating to being injured on the job.

The manager that Mike Spencer mentioned in the postings on FB, proved he was upset.  Upset with WSIB, and with the manager.

Was Mike Spencer unhappy with how he has been treated by WSIB?  From what he has said in postings and from what I heard in the courtroom, it is true.

Did Mike Spencer say that he would do anything to hurt WSIB, itself?  Not that I heard in the court hearing, when Mike Spencer was testifying.

Did Mike Spencer say he would hurt anyone working for WSIB?  From the questions asked and answered during the court hearing when Mike Spencer was testifying, I must say... he did not.

Is the WSIB manager, living here in Windsor, Ontario, Canada?  No.

Did Mike Spencer telephone that manager at work, or at home, and threaten him in any way?  No.  At least, not as far as I know.  After all, I sat in the court room here in Windsor, when the hearing was being held, and heard Mike Spencer testify.

Did Mike Spencer go to the manager's home and threaten him in any way?  Again, I must say that during the hearing it was said he didn't do this, and was acknowledged by all parties participating in the court hearing, as the truth.

Did Mike Spencer say he would definitely hurt the manager or anyone in his family?  The proof of what happened in the court hearing, confirmed he did not.

In fact, from what I heard, Mike Spencer never left town.  He never went and hurt anyone.

For this, I praise God!

From everything I heard during the day I spent in the courtroom, listening to all information given, I was happy.

I was happy that Mike Spencer had spoken truth.

After all, Mike Spencer is Christian.  And, is a believer, who knows we must speak truth.

And, he was just speaking truth.  Truth, the way he sees it.

Thinking of this, reminded me of Zechariah 8:16, "These are the things that ye shall do; Speak ye every man the truth to his neighbour; execute the judgment of truth and peace in your gates:"

Just as God told us in today's verse, we are to speak truth.  Truth to neighbours/people we know.

In my opinion, this is what Mike Spencer, did.

He spoke up.  He spoke out.  And, let people know how awful he felt he was treated by WSIB.

Another reason I'm happy Mike Spencer did this, is because he took advantage of the freedom of speech that I believe my parents and others helped obtain and keep for us, here in Canada, by fighting for and standing up for truth and God, during wars.

So, did Mike Spencer do wrong?

Not in my opinion.  Nor, in God's... as we read today, and in other Bible verses.

Please know that I pray for Mike Spencer.

I pray for all others who have been injured on the job.  And, for their families, also.

Hopefully, you will join me in prayer.

Thank you, if you do.  May God bless you.

Until next time...
