If you read Life with Lynnie (LwL) yesterday, you'll be aware that last Friday evening I attended a seminar/workshop regarding Media-wise Dangers of Social Media.
It was held where I worship with my church family: Walkerville Evangelical Baptist Church. Not in our sanctuary, but in our fellowship room!
As I had mentioned yesterday, the host/presenter was a fellow Christian, who worships at a sister church, not far away.
He is... Ryan Richardson, B.A., LL.B. He is President and CEO of Media Safe: www.BeMediaSafe.com.
In addition to his current work position, Ryan Richardson also was a lawyer, in the past. To me, this meant that he truly understood the legal situation regarding the subject being discussed.
I must admit, Ryan Richardson did a wonderful job, doing his presentation. I'm sure I am not alone, in thinking this.
Of course, I personally must thank him.
You see, at the end of the presentation, he held a draw. Several people's names were selected and received gifts from him. I was one, believe it or not! Thank you, Ryan Richardson. May God bless you...
In addition to being a wonderful speaker, Ryan Richardson is also a fellow author. He wrote and offered for sale, copies of saving face (book). Apparently, within a short time, another book he authored, will be available.
While this presentation was suitable for church groups, it was filled with information that parents and children both need to hear.
If you click on the link above for Media Safe, you'll be able to see some of the 'hot' topics discussed, that can be rather dangerous. Like:
* Cyberbullying
* Privacy Issues
* Sexting
* Snapchat
* Instagram
* Facebook
* Twitter
* Being a light unto the digital world
During the presentation, I actually commented about something that happened to someone I know. This person actually had to go to court, and the commenting that was posted on Facebook (FB) was actually used as evidence against him.
Ryan Richardson let me know he was thankful I mentioned it. For the truth is, everyone is at risk, legally, when they use various types of media accounts.
I must admit, life has truly changed from the time I was young, until now.
Even though family members get together, it seems that there is much less conversation. Much less time is spent together.
And, much more time is spent using social media through computers, phones, etc.
Thinking about how in this day and age, many people, especially young people, seem to not get together to spend time with others, and thinking about how many are hurt and not encouraged through the use of social media programs, brought to mind Hebrews 10:25, "Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching."
Yes, there are some people who do not go to meet with others, to worship God (no, I'm not referring to anyone who cannot physically do this). And, there are some people who have fun hurting others.
But, this is not what God would have us do.
He wants us to assemble ourselves with fellow believers/church family. He wants us to exhort each other... meaning, encourage each other.
Not just years ago, when the Bible was created. But, also today. Much the more, as ye see the day approaching.
This refers to how the closer we get to when the rapture will happen, it is even more important for us to do as He requested.
How do I know this?
Of course, it's due to what we read in today's Bible verse. But, it is also, because we were told to keep looking up, for our redemption draweth nigh (Luke 21:28).
My friend, I pray that you are doing all you can to honour God.
Worship Him. Glorify Him. And, be obedient to His Word, the Bible.
Until next time...
