As I mentioned in yesterday's Life with Lynnie (LwL) entry, my church family and I were blessed having missionaries join us, and speak to us on SONday.
After our worship service, many of us gathered in our fellowship room. Together, we enjoyed a pot-luck luncheon.
To me, this was wonderful!
Not just because of the delicious food, we enjoyed together. But also, because it gave me time to sit and talk with both the husband and wife missionaries, that were our guests.
When I spoke with the wife, I gave her bookmark. It's what I use to pass out information about the book I wrote: Love Never Fails You...
After some discussion, I was asked if it was available at bookstores. I let her know it was, here in Windsor, London, and Oakville, and elsewhere. She asked if it was available in Saskatchewan.
I mentioned only through Amazon.com, Amazon.ca, and a few other online sources.
Then, I let her know I had a copy in my van. And, offered it to her, as a gift.
She seemed to be happy that I offered to do this. I was also told that the issue of overcoming trials in life and grief, was very important to people.
Hearing this, made me smile. For, I also believe that many of us suffer in our lives, in those ways.
During our pot-luck luncheon, I signed the copy I was giving them, and gave it to her.
Later, I spoke with her husband. I let him know that I gave his wife that copy of the book I wrote.
He asked me if it was the book he saw on the table where I had been seated, while we were all lined up to obtain our meal. I responded that it was.
He let me know that he didn't know I was the author, but when he saw the book, he thought he'd like to read it.
This made me smile. And, I thanked him for letting me know this.
As I said in the past, I believe that we must do whatever we can to help others.
Not just encourage them, as I pray the book I wrote will do.
But, I also believe that we need to do what we have been commanded to do. We need to reach out and be missionaries, right here at home.
Just as this couple does, in their lives, to fulfill what God wants us to do.
We all, as missionaries or not, need to be reaching out to people, teaching them about their need for salvation, and how to obtain it. And, teaching them about what God expects of them.
Like read, in Matthew 28:18-20, "And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.
19 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:
20 Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen."
Yes, once people come to understand what God expects of them, and understand that they truly need salvation, some will come to Christ... and become saved.
Once they've become saved, gaining salvation, they will then be baptized. They will do this, in obedience to what God would have them do.
I reach out to others, as best I can. Just as God expects me to do.
And, do whatever I can... every single day, to help people.
By doing this, I believe that one day, I will stand before our Lord, and hear Him tell me... well done, my good and faithful servant.
Until next time...
