Here on Life with Lynnie (LwL), I would like to discuss an issue that is breaking my heart. Persecution.
Persecution of the saints (we, saved believers in Jesus Christ), seems to be happening more and more, today.
In my opinion, Islam is causing the worst persecution of Christians.
Someone I know who lives here in my city, is a fellow Christian. Although, I must say... he wasn't always Christian.
When my now deceased husband Gordon and I became friends with Zachariah Anani (Zach), he told us about his past. And, how he persecuted Christians in Lebanon, when he was a Muslim.
Here is a link, where you can read a bit about Zach: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zachariah_Anani.
Sincerely, I am grateful that Zach has become Christian. Not just because he has gained salvation by trusting in/believing upon our Lord, Jesus Christ.
I'm grateful for he has revealed much truth to me and to others, about the threat Islam is to Christianity. He speaks about this, and has videos on YouTube that you can watch. Check it out!
In today's society, it seems that Christianity is no longer acceptable. At least, to the unsaved.
No one wants to allow Christians to pray in school, as they did for many, many years. No religion is to be preached. Yet, this is not really what is being done.
In many school systems, Islamic students are able to pray as their religion requires them to. Yet, Christians... cannot.
Here is an article that shows how Islam is being promoted, in today's society. It's entitled, And... "I" am the Islamaphobe? : http://janmorganmedia.com/2013/03/and-i-am-the-islamaphobe/.
Some people may be thinking that Christians are only being attacked and persecuted by people from other religions and/or ideologies... like Islam. But, this is not the truth.
True Christians are even being attacked and persecuted by people who are not truly saved. If this were not true, the following circumstance wouldn't be happening.
I'm referring to what has happened to Christians in Ukraine.
It seems that Christians are being attacked, persecuted and even murdered by people who are not supposedly from another religion. Like Islam.
Of course, there is no way for you or me to confirm that this is happening, since it has not yet begun to happen here in Canada. However, from what we see in this video I'm posting, this is truly happening.
The video is on YouTube and is entitled, Tortured in Ukraine: Christians Living a Nightmare. Here is a link to watch it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P2BKxzf-ENQ .
Watching that video literally broke my heart.
After all, those who we heard did this persecution, were supposedly fellow Christians. In my opinion, this is not the truth.
There are some church groups around who call themselves Christian, but may not truly be. They promote Christianity, yet they do not teach/preach that those participating in their worship services, need to read God's Word, the Bible, and become born-again Christians.
To me, this means that there are some who call themselves Christian, without truly being Christian.
The pain I felt, brought to mind how God told us that we will be persecuted. And, how we should deal with the issue.
Just as He did, in Matthew 5:10-12, "Blessed are they which are persecuted for righteousness' sake: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
11 Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake.
12 Rejoice, and be exceeding glad: for great is your reward in heaven: for so persecuted they the prophets which were before you."
My friends, those who are being persecuted, are suffering.
But, they are blessed by God, for their reward in Heaven will be great. Just as we read in today's verses.
Even though our brothers and sisters in Christ will be blessed by God after they leave this earth, I believe we need to be praying for them. And, do whatever we can to help them.
Please, find it in your heart to do what God would lead you to do, to help our fellow Christians, who are suffering and being persecuted for their faith.
Until next time...
