Stand Up!

Today is the day, when I discuss here on Life with Lynnie (LwL), about worshipping.

Being my Lord's Day, SONday, I will be worshipping in spirit and in truth, with my church family.  Just as I normally do!

As you may be aware, I also enjoy worshipping Him, through music.

Last week, while worshipping with my church family, we sang a hymn that I adore.  After arriving home, I decided to look and see if I had ever used it here on LwL.  To my surprise, I hadn't!

So today, I will be posting about Stand Up, Stand Up for Jesus.  It was written by George Duffield Jr., and George J. Webb.  Here is a link for you to listen to and/or sing along:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r11Gmdq__-8.  The lyrics are below.

Stand Up, Stand Up for Jesus

Stand up, stand up for Jesus,
ye soldiers of the cross;
lift high his royal banner,
it must not suffer loss.
From victory unto victory
his army shall he lead,
till every foe is vanquished,
and Christ is Lord indeed.

(This verse is part of the hymn, but was not included on the recording)
Stand up, stand up for Jesus,
the trumpet call obey;
forth to the mighty conflict,
in this his glorious day.
Ye that are brave now serve him
against unnumbered foes;
let courage rise with danger,
and strength to strength oppose.

Stand up, stand up for Jesus,
stand in his strength alone;
the arm of flesh will fail you,
ye dare not trust your own.
Put on the gospel armor,
each piece put on with prayer;
where duty calls or danger,
be never wanting there.

Stand up, stand up for Jesus,
the strife will not be long;
this day the noise of battle,
the next the victor's song.
To those who vanquish evil
a crown of life shall be;
they with the King of Glory
shall reign eternally.

On every recording with lyrics of this hymn that I found and listened to, a verse was left out.  In addition to that being not included, there also was a change in some of the lyrics.  However, I decided to post the lyrics as were written by the authors of this wonderful hymn.

What I love about this hymn is not just the music and lyrics.  I adore that in it, people are being told the truth about Jesus.

Plus, we are told that we need to put on the gospel armour.

This reminded me of Ephesians 6:11, "Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil."

By putting on the whole armour of God, we may be able to stand against attacks made on us, by the devil.  Satan.

Yes, we need to stand up for Jesus.  And, trust in/believe upon Him.

Through Him, we will be led into victory, through receiving the gift of life.  Eternal life.

Until next time...
