In Support of Derek...

If you've read Life with Lynnie (LwL) for a while now, you'll be aware that my fellow blogger friend, Derek of Derek's Bike Trip, was recently hurt.

He was injured, while biking through the province of Quebec, Canada.

Something that I was glad to see Derek was able to do, was to create and post about what happened to him, on his blog, Derek's Bike Trip.  Here is a link for you to read about the trial he has been going through:

Hopefully, you clicked on the link and read about how Derek was injured.  You'll also know about his past, also.

In case you weren't able to read what was posted on his blog's link, his front tire exploded as he was cycling down a steep hill, in the province of Quebec, Canada.  Being hurt, he's been spending time resting and healing in Rimouski, Quebec.

He was interviewed prior to his accident, by CBC Radio Canada.  And, was re-interviewed again, after being injured.

Thankfully, this led to Derek receiving some medical care and assistance that he was in need of.  Hallelujah!

However, a fellow who was a cyclist, and who claims to be a journalist/writer spent some time with Derek.  And, even though he seemed friendly, this fellow later wrote nasty things about Derek.

When Derek found out about what this fellow had done, he replied to the comments made.

To me, and to many other people, what this fellow did was rather evil.

Some might not think so.  But, if that's the case, then they should read Luke 6:45, "A good man out of the good treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is good; and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is evil: for of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaketh."

Some people, including me and a friend of mine, are rather upset about that person being evil towards Derek.

My friend A, who met Derek when we had lunch together, here in Windsor posted a comment for him saying, "Some people only get pleasure in life by brining down others. You know what you have accomplished in this life. With your health problems riding a bike around the world is an amazing accomplishment. (What has he done ). We who follow your blog know the pain and anguish you ride with and admire your fortitude.Don’t give him an other thought ,just get well and ride on my friend, ride on."

I praise God that my friend A, showed support to Derek.  After all, this is a time when he truly needs some support and friendship.

This is what I said, "Derek, I truly feel badly for you, for you are not just suffering physically, but also emotionally. What this person said and did to you, is not good. If he didn’t want to believe you during any of your conversations, then he should have just walked away. Instead, he chose to hurt you. Only sinful people will hurt someone when they are already hurting; they’ll kick someone when they are down. Please remember that God loves you, even if you are suffering through this horrible trial in life. Please forgive him, so that the pain he has caused you, will be gone, forever. This way, God will deal with him and you won’t have to suffer due to this fellow’s hatred. I am praying for you, for all aspects of your life, my friend. Blessings…"

Derek, being a Christian, is aware that he needs to be able to overcome, every trial in his life.  Even if it isn't easy.

This reminded me of Revelation 21:6-8, "And he said unto me, It is done. I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end. I will give unto him that is athirst of the fountain of the water of life freely.
He that overcometh shall inherit all things; and I will be his God, and he shall be my son.
But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death."

That verse also tells us about how people who are unbelievers, who hurt others, will be treated by God.

Even so, we as believers need to be obedient to God's calling.

Just as He told us, in Matthew 5:44-45, "But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you;
45 That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust."

As His Word tells us, it matters not if we are hurt physically, or emotionally, or both.  As we read, good things and bad things will happen to those who belong to God... and to those who do not.  For we who belong to Him are considered the 'just', while those who don't belong to Him, are considered to be the 'unjust'.

What God told us in these verses shows us what we need to do.

We must forgive those who hurt us.  We must bless them that curse us and do good to them who hate us.  Plus, we must pray for them who despitefully use us, and persecute us.

No, it isn't easy to do this.  But, it is necessary for us to do, just as God commanded us, His children.

Knowing how hurt Derek is, I am asking you to pray for him, my friend.  For he needs support and prayer at this time.

I thank you.  And, pray that God will bless you, also!

Until next time...
