As I mentioned yesterday, on Life with Lynnie (LwL), I went to worship with my church family.
Like always, it was a wonderful time of worship. For this, I am thankful.
Being the first (1st) SONday of the month, we enjoyed a bit longer worship service. This was due to having communion, after our regular service.
Ahh... how I love taking communion. As I've said in the past, I truly enjoy remembering and honouring my Lord.
During our worship service, it was mentioned that we should all be reading God's Word, the Bible.
Anyone who knows me, knows I do this. Daily.
With having been ill and having a couple surgeries this year, I have had more time than usual, to read my Bible.
When I first was able to once again drive myself to worship with my church family, I was asked if I was reading my Bible. I let the person know I read, daily. And, when I mentioned where I was reading, the response to me, was... to slow down!
It seems I am well ahead of where most people are reading.
Yes, I did slow down. Even so, on what would have been my deceased husband Gordon's birthday, I finished reading the Old Testament, and began reading the New Testament.
Going slower, I am still reading in the book of Matthew.
While my reading has slowed, I truly do not want to stop, altogether. After all, it is food to my soul. And yours also, if you belong to Him.
Just as we read, in Matthew 4:4, "But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God."
While we are only human, and not gods, we need bread to survive. However, we need more than that. We need God's Word, the Bible.
We need to not only read to know how much God loves us, but we also need to read what God expects of us. The Bible was written by a variety of people, but is inspired by God.
Unfortunately, not everyone who reads the Bible accepts it, fully. Some people think of and use the Word of God in the Bible, like a buffet.
Just like selecting what they want at a food buffet, some people do the same thing with God's Word. They'll accept this, and refuse that.
But, this is not what God would have them do. God expects His children to accept his every Word, in the Bible. And, live by it.
There was a time in my life when I did not place God first and foremost in my life. But, I do so today, in obedience to Him. And, pray the same for you, my friend.
Until next time...
