On Wednesday, July 16th, I met him where he had stayed at Diane Motel about 9:00 a.m.
We did not spend the day together. This was the day he was leaving Windsor, and heading towards Niagara Falls, with a plan on stopping in Chatham, for another overnight stay.
When I arrived to say goodbye and wish him well, he was almost finished loading his bike. Once he was ready, I took a picture of him.
Derek, prepared to leave Windsor, ON, Canada.
There is something he doesn't know.
After arriving home, I went out on the balcony. Just as I turned on my camera, I saw Derek ride by my apartment building!
Derek leaving Windsor, ON.
In order to see him, you may need to enlarge the photo, for he is in the centre of this pic. Being high up in my building, I wasn't able to get a clear shot.
I'm thankful to have met Derek. Meeting him was not only a pleasure, but it was another first (1st) in my life, for this was the first (1st) time I had met with a fellow blogger!
Prayer for him, continues. And, I hope you'll join me in praying for him, as well. Thank you, friend.
Later, while online, I came across a YouTube video entitled, Derek Boocock -- round the world on a bicycle. Here is a link so you can see it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_yE8EneeQhA.
At that time, Derek was heading to Africa. Things changed for him, in Africa. If you read his blog, you'll know why and what the result was. There is a link on my blog reading list, where you can access Derek's blog: Derek's Bike Trip www.dereksbiketrip.com
Also, you could watch another YouTube video entitled, Talk Vietnam: Derek Boocock - A British man cycling around the World. I'm sure you'll enjoy watching this interview: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z2fVrRWqkJg.
As I discussed on SONday, our Lord's Day, all who belong to God will experience trials in life. Just as we read in His Word.
The trials that Derek experienced have not been easy. However, God has helped him through and is guiding him along the way of both his life, and his around-the-world biking trip.
In our conversation together, we agreed that God helps us through those trials. And, the glory goes to Him.
Just as we read in 1 Peter 4:13-14, "But rejoice, inasmuch as ye are partakers of Christ's sufferings; that, when his glory shall be revealed, ye may be glad also with exceeding joy.
14 If ye be reproached for the name of Christ, happy are ye; for the spirit of glory and of God resteth upon you: on their part he is evil spoken of, but on your part he is glorified."
No matter what we experience in life, we need to be thankful. We need to be grateful, because our Lord's sufferings were far worse than ours could ever be.
My friend, if you do this, you will understand how God provides us with joy. And, if we are subjected to our trials in life, as reproach for our relationship with Jesus Christ, we will be blessed in our afterlife as we spend eternity in Heaven, with Him. This brings happiness, as well.
Hopefully, you are trusting in Jesus Christ, for your salvation.
If not, you won't spend eternity in Heaven with God. Instead, you'll be in Hell forever, with no chance of escape.
It is for your benefit that I suggest that you come to Christ, today. This way, when it is time for your life to end here on earth, you will be blessed to spend eternity with Him, in Heaven.
How do you come to Christ and gain salvation? Believe on the Lord, Jesus Christ and you shall be saved (Acts 16:31).
Until next time...
