Here on Life with Lynnie (LwL) yesterday, I discussed a friend and a relative that need prayer, due to having cancer.
Someone else I know also needs prayer. For healing, and more.
This fellow is someone like me. Sort of. I am meaning that he writes a blog.
In the past, I've had limited contact with Derek Boocock, who is a fellow blog writer. We communicated sometimes through comments on his blog entitled, Derek's Bike Trip. But, we also messaged each other on Facebook (FB).
Derek has been through a lot in his life. You will learn a bit about him, if you read his blog.
Throughout his life, he has battled various forms of cancer. And, he's experienced many life trials.
He lost his wife to cancer, the same year my husband Gordon, died.
After he finished his own cancer treatments and had been told there was nothing more that could be done for him, he decided to travel. He began travelling, but in a different way than most people.
Derek began biking around the world.
He's from England, and has made his way around much of the world. However, there are more areas he's heading to. Hopefully, he'll make it to every place he's headed towards.
When I realized he was getting closer to my area, we made arrangements to meet.
Since I hadn't been able to renew my passport, I wasn't available to help Derek cross the border.
I knew this would be a problem, since no one is allowed to bicycle over the bridge or in the tunnel coming from Detroit, MI, USA, to here in Windsor, ON, Canada. Even the idea of crossing on the tunnel bus wouldn't work.
Derek would have had to unload his bike, and pack his tenting equipment, personal stuff, food, etc., into baggage. Then, he would have had to partly disassemble/adjust his bike to be able to be stored in a box, in order to use the tunnel bus to cross the border.
Knowing this wouldn't work, I prayed about his situation. And, God provided. Thank You, Lord!
A couple who live here in Windsor, are fellow members of a biking group that Derek belongs to. They went to Detroit, picked Derek up, and brought him, his bike and all his gear, into Canada.
Thank you, to those who helped Derek return into Canada. May God bless you...
Yes, he was able to enter Canada, for a second time, after biking from Vancouver, B.C., to here.
For this, I praised God! I was truly thankful!
Thinking this way, brought to mind Colossians 4:2, "Continue in prayer, and watch in the same with thanksgiving;"
It was wonderful knowing that not only had God helped Derek, but it was such a blessing to know that the prayer of mine and probably others also, was answered by God. Thank You, Lord!
Just so you know, Derek arrived in Windsor, on Sunday, July 13th, 2014.
If you would like to read Derek's blog and/or check it out without starting at the beginning of his cycling trip, here is a link to his blog: http://www.dereksbiketrip.com/.
If you would like to read Derek's blog, right from the beginning, here is a link to the first (1st) entry: http://www.dereksbiketrip.com/let-the-adventure-begin/.
May God bless Derek. May God bless all who help him. And, may God bless you, my friend.
Until next time...
