In yesterday's Life with Lynnie (LwL) entry, the focus was on the funeral service for the three (3) Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) officers, who had been killed, Wednesday, June 4th, in Moncton, New Brunswick, Canada.
As previously discussed, the funeral service was very honouring to those men who gave their lives while working to provide safety to all in that area. And, to the other two (2) RCMP officers, who had been shot, yet lived.
One part stuck out in my mind. I'd like to share it with you.
The special thing, was the part of the funeral service honouring RCMP officer Dave Joseph Ross, when his favourite worship song was heard. It was sung and music was played, by fellow believers in his church family.
It was 10,000 Reasons (Bless the Lord), sung on this link, by Matt Redman. Here is a link so you can listen and/or sing along : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DXDGE_lRI0E&feature=kp. The lyrics are below.
10,000 Reasons (Bless the Lord)
Bless the Lord, O my soul
O my soul
Worship His holy name
Sing like never before
O my soul
I'll worship Your holy name
The sun comes up, it's a new day dawning
It's time to sing Your song again
Whatever may pass, and whatever lies before me
Let me be singing when the evening comes
Bless the Lord, O my soul
O my soul
Worship His holy name
Sing like never before
O my soul
I'll worship Your holy name
You're rich in love, and You're slow to anger
Your name is great, and Your heart is kind
For all Your goodness I will keep on singing
Ten thousand reasons for my heart to find
Bless the Lord, O my soul
O my soul
Worship His holy name
Sing like never before
O my soul
I'll worship Your holy name
Bless you, Lord...
And on that day when my strength is failing
The end draws near and my time has come
Still my soul will sing Your praise unending
Ten thousand years and then forevermore
Bless the Lord, O my soul
O my soul
Worship His holy name
Sing like never before
O my soul
I'll worship Your holy name
Bless the Lord, O my soul
O my soul
Worship His holy name
Sing like never before
O my soul
I'll worship Your holy name
Yes, I'll worship Your holy name
Lord, I'll worship Your holy name
Sing like never before
O my soul
I'll worship Your holy name
Jesus, I'll worship Your holy name
I'll worship Your holy name
Since Dave Joseph Ross and his wife had met a the church where they were later married, and worshipped, I believe he was saved. Of course, only God knows for sure.
But I believe from what was said by those who gave eulogy for him, that he was truly a believer. And, as a believer, this means that even though his life ended here on earth, he's now living in Heaven with our Lord, Jesus Christ.
Just as we read, 2 Corinthians 5:8, "We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord."
This is what happens, to all believers. Our lives may end on earth, but we live in Heaven, later.
This is truly something to be thankful for!
Please don't misunderstand what I am saying. Losing a loved one, isn't fun.
I feel badly for his wife, his child and their unborn child. And, for the wife, children and other family members of the other two (2) officers who were killed.
Grief won't be easy. Just as it hasn't been for me. Or, for other widows. They will suffer.
However, what is encouraging, is the fact that as a believer, Dave Joseph Ross is no longer suffering. He'll be spending his time, worshipping our Lord. I praise God for this!
Prayer will continue for all involved. For those injured, and for the families and friends of all who were killed.
I pray you'll join me in prayer. Thank you. May God bless you.
Until next time...
