Piece/Peace of My Heart...

As I've mentioned on Life with Lynnie (LwL) in the past, there are times when music resonates within my whole being.

And, it's not always Christian music.  Sometimes secular music.

Like one did that lived within me, once I awoke after having my major surgery done, in London, Ontario.

The song was by Janis Joplin, entitled Piece of My Heart.  Here is a link for you to listen and/or sing along:  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B8PGDlh6GfM.  The lyrics are below.

Piece of My Heart

Oh, come on, come on, come on, come on!

Didn't I make you feel like you were the only man - yeah!
An' didn't I give you nearly everything that a woman possibly can ?
Honey, you know I did!
And each time I tell myself that I, well I think I've had enough,
But I'm gonna show you, baby, that a woman can be tough.

I want you to come on, come on, come on, come on and take it,
Take it!
Take another little piece of my heart now, baby!
Oh, oh, break it!
Break another little bit of my heart now, darling, yeah, yeah, yeah.
Oh, oh, have a!
Have another little piece of my heart now, baby,
You know you got it if it makes you feel good,
Oh, yes indeed.

You're out on the streets looking good,
And baby deep down in your heart I guess you know that it ain't right,
Never, never, never, never, never, never hear me when I cry at night,
Babe, and I cry all the time!
But each time I tell myself that I, well I can't stand the pain,

But when you hold me in your arms, I'll sing it once again.

I'll say come on, come on, come on, come on and take it!
Take it!
Take another little piece of my heart now, baby.
Oh, oh, break it!
Break another little bit of my heart now, darling, yeah,
Oh, oh, have a!
Have another little piece of my heart now, baby,
You know you got it, child, if it makes you feel good.

I need you to come on, come on, come on, come on and take it,
Take it!
Take another little piece of my heart now, baby!
Oh, oh, break it!
Break another little bit of my heart, now darling, yeah, c'mon now.
Oh, oh, have a
Have another little piece of my heart now, baby.

You know you got it - whoahhhhh!!

Take it!
Take it! Take another little piece of my heart now, baby,
Oh, oh, break it!
Break another little bit of my heart, now darling, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah,
Oh, oh, have a
Have another little piece of my heart now, baby, hey,
You know you got it, child, if it makes you feel good.

Yes, I am fully aware that once again, this is not a Christian song.

I must say that God uses the music in a different way than when we do.  Firstly, He usually changes some of the lyrics.

I'm not referring to changing the whole song.   Rather, it's like He changes the occasional word, as the music resonates within my mind.

Like He did, when this song played within me.  Instead of hearing the original lyrics, I heard, "Didn't I make you feel you're my only one".  As if He was singing the song for me.  Alone.  Being His child.

Plus, He sometimes doesn't use the whole song.

He sometimes only refers to parts of the song.  Like the last part, "Oh, oh, have a Have another little piece of my heart now, baby, hey,You know you got it, child, if it makes you feel good."

There are other bits that played over and over throughout me, while I was in hospital, but there's no need to discuss them all.

Even though the song doesn't refer to the peace of God, I believe God wanted to let me know He loves me, and will care for me.  Always.

Just as we are told in Philippians 4:7, "And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus."

The fact is, I'm His child.  And, He wants to have me take another piece of His heart.

He wants me to honour, glorify and love Him, in everything I do.

Just remember, He wants you, too.  So, please, do what He would have you do.

Trust in our Lord, Jesus Christ and you shall be saved (Acts 16:31), if you're not already.

Until next time...
