Before I begin today's Life with Lynnie (LwL) entry, I would like to say that had my dad still been alive, it would have been his birthday, today. While there's no point in wishing him Happy Birthday, in my heart, I'm thinking about him.
It's been quite a while since I discussed what I've been doing. So today, is the day!
As I mentioned on Tuesday, December 31st, 2013, it was a special day for one of my grandsons. It was S's birthday!
I had been invited to join S's family and a few of his friends, to celebrate and have cake, together.
Off I went to my daughter P's home, and arrived just after 4:00 p.m. Just a few minutes later than we had originally planned to meet.
Unfortunately, a few of S's friends were out shopping with their parents. It meant they would arrive late.
That's okay. We waited!
Eventually, everyone was gathered together to celebrate. We sang Happy Birthday, to S. Of course, he made a wish, blew out his candles and enjoyed opening his gifts!
I must admit, his birthday cake was delicious. Thank you, P!
Afterwards, I left S with his friends and my family, so they could continue to celebrate. Some of his friends were staying overnight!
It only took me a few minutes to make my way to the rehab centre where my friend J's brother J has been living for quite a few months. You may recall that he had a stroke.
When I walked into J's room, the first (1st) person I saw, was his sister J.
After greeting each other, I let J know that I had brought him some homemade applesauce. And, some homemade cookies.
In the past, his dad had told me it was the best applesauce he had ever eaten. And, I knew for sure that J liked the cookies in the past, so it made me feel good to bring them for him to enjoy. Especially, since that evening was one where many people celebrate the ending of one (1) year, and the beginning of another.
When my visit came to an end, we prayed together. Then, I said my goodbyes and headed out.
I must admit, I was extremely thankful, that day.
Truly, I was thankful I was able to visit with some of my family, including some of my grandsons. But, in addition, I also was able to visit the ill fellow I went to see... and, was able to visit with my friend J, who I hadn't seen in quite a while. Thank you, Lord!
Thinking about being thankful, brought to mind Ephesians 5:20, "Giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ;"
Ah... yes! I was truly thankful. It did my heart good to be able to have contact with those I love and care for.
Plus, it did my heart good to pray with my friends... in Jesus' precious name. Just as I always pray.
Hopefully, you also pray in Jesus' name. And, give thanks in Jesus' name, also.
I realize that not everyone does. Not everyone has been taught to do so. Even if it is what God would have us do.
Of course, the fact that not all are being taught correctly, is a discussion for another time.
Just know that whenever you pray and are thankful, God's will is for you to give thanks, and pray in Jesus' name. And, all God's children, who are aware of this, said... Amen!
Until next time...
