In The Beginning...
As I mentioned yesterday, here on Life with Lynnie (LwL), the weather wasn't supposed to be very good, Sunday. And, it wasn't.
Okay, I must say that our weather here in Windsor, ON, Canada surely wasn't the worst I've ever experienced. However, it wasn't great.
Some people don't realize that we in Canada, do not have snow all year round.
Yes, we do have snow during the winter. But, I must say that were I live, is considered to be the Florida of Canada... because we are in the southernmost part of my country.
Even though we've had snow much earlier than we normally do. And, even though we've had quite a bit of snow, compared to other years, I went to worship, yesterday.
I am grateful I was able to make my way to worship with my church family. Thank You, Lord.
While the main roads seemed to be okay to drive on, the side streets weren't cleared well. Even so, I arrived safely at church.
I praised God for this! Especially, since there were not many people who showed up to worship.
It kind of broke my heart. But, there's nothing anyone can do.
No one could change the weather. And, it's understandable that some people are nervous about driving in bad weather.
In a way, I feel sorry for those who weren't able to join us. Pastor Tom's preaching was wonderful!
Of course, being the first (1st) Sunday of the month, we celebrated communion, also. Anyone who knows me, knows that I appreciate celebrating my Lord, Jesus Christ!
How fitting it was that Pastor Tom's sermon was with regards to the beginning of the earth.
He preached from Genesis. The first (1st) book of the Bible, in the Old Testament.
After all, not only is it the first (1st) time of 2014 that we shared in celebrating communion, but it is also the beginning of a new year.
Thinking about beginnings, it certainly brought to mind a Bible verse that probably everyone is familiar with.
I'm referring to Genesis 1:1, "In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth."
Amen! He certainly did!
Whenever I hear someone say there is no such place as Heaven, it only takes me a second or less to realize that person doesn't read God's Word, the Bible.
Either that, or they have absolutely no belief in what He inspired the authors to write for us. None.
But, I do. I have faith. True and complete faith. In Him.
Firstly, because God is the creator. He created the heavens and the earth. He created the water and the land. He created the fish in the sea, the animals on the earth. And, we people, too! In His image!
In addition, God told us in His Word, that He inspired His Word to be written. He told us that faith cometh by hearing and hearing by the Word of God (Romans 10:17).
I praise God that the His Word was provided for us. Hallelujah!
For many years now, I have read through the entire Bible, annually.
Yes, each year I begin in the Old Testament portion of the Bible. The part of His Word, that represents the Old (original) Covenant that God made to His Chosen People.
And, eventually, I make my way into the New Testament. The part of His Word, that represents the New Covenant (the one made for us... mainly Gentiles), which grafted us believers in with His Chosen People.
Thank You, dear God!
It is my prayer that if you have not made a habit of reading through your entire Bible, that you will do so, this year. I believe you'll be blessed.
Until next time...
