Heritage & Fruit!

If you read yesterday's Life with Lynnie (LwL) entry, you'll be aware that yesterday was my daughter P's birthday.

After being inside my apartment since last Sunday, I went out, yesterday.  I must admit, I had a nap before heading out the door!

As arranged, I drove across town and picked up P at her home, around supper time!  No, we weren't going out to dinner alone, together.

We went to two (2) different locations and picked up pizza.  Enough pizza to feed all 10 people waiting at her home!

Arriving back at P's home, we gathered family members and a friend.

All of P's sons (my grandsons!) were home.  Plus, I was able to spend some time with two (2) of my grandsons, who were at their aunt P's home!

Oh, and while we were enjoying dinner together, another of my grandsons dropped by for a few minutes.  Apparently, he was going out with another relative and had seen my van parked there, so he stopped by!

It was so nice to have A come in, hug me and tell me he loves me!  I felt truly blessed, and let him know I love him, too!

When I say it was a blessing being able to spend some time with some of my grandchildren, I truly mean it!

I must admit that I had wondered if we had picked up enough pizza to feed everyone.  But, I was happy to see that there were a few pieces left over.  This meant that everyone had their fill of food!

Of course, we all had made sure to leave enough room for birthday cake!

Normally, I bake and lightly decorate birthday cakes for family members.  But, as you're probably aware, I do not yet have enough stomach muscle to lift my mixer out of the cabinet where it's stored.  So, just as has been done over the past 15 months, I did not supply the cake.

P had something we had never had, before.  She had an ice cream cake!  I must say, it was delicious!

And, of course, she enjoyed opening birthday presents!

I praise God for being able to celebrate P's birthday.  Just as I appreciate other family member's birthdays, as well!

Thank You, Lord!  You certainly blessed me!

Being able to spend time with my child and other family members, I mean!

After all, God told us in Psalm 127:3, "Lo, children are an heritage of the Lord: and the fruit of the womb is his reward."

Yes, my daughter P and her sister B, are the reward God gave me.  Just as their children are heritage of the Lord to them... and, to me!

Please don't misunderstand.  I do not have a perfect family.

I don't think anyone does!

However, I feel blessed that I have family to gather with, from time to time.

To spend time with.  To celebrate them.  To celebrate their lives, at various times of the year.

For this, I will always be grateful.  Thank You, Lord!

Until next time...
