In yesterday's Life with Lynnie (LwL) entry, I wrote about loving the sinner and hating the sin, because that is what God has told us to do.
Even though I have been writing about the sin of homosexuality, I have also mentioned other sin, as was stated in one Bible verse I quoted. After all, homosexuality is not the only sin that people are affected by, here in our world.
As I've said before, we live in a sinful world.
How could it not be? We live in Satan's domain.
In 2 Corinthians 4:1-6 we are told, "Therefore seeing we have this ministry, as we have received mercy, we faint not;
2 But have renounced the hidden things of dishonesty, not walking in craftiness, nor handling the word of God deceitfully; but by manifestation of the truth commending ourselves to every man's conscience in the sight of God.
3 But if our gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are lost:
4 In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.
5 For we preach not ourselves, but Christ Jesus the Lord; and ourselves your servants for Jesus' sake.
6 For God, who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, hath shined in our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ."
When writing about sin, I am not trying to point fingers at anyone. I'm fulfilling what God would have me do. Preach/teach truth. His truth.
As we read above, it is our ministry since we have received mercy from Him. We who are truly saved have repented and turned away from sin. And, even though we may fall into sin at one time or another, we recognize that we have indeed been touched by sin once again, and turn away from it.
God told us in the above quoted verses that we should not handle His Word, in a deceitful manner. But, isn't that what is being done, by those who are preaching/teaching a false gospel?
It is definitely being handled in a deceitful manner, by those who are rewriting God's Word, the Bible, by claiming it needs to be updated, to reflect today's society, especially when it claims that sin... is not sinful.
Some people haven't liked the idea that I speak truth. That's okay. It matters not to me.
What matters to me, is that I am honouring my Father in Heaven, doing what He called me to do. He told us in today's verses that we are not to preach ourselves, but to preach Christ Jesus, our Lord. And, as I have stated many times before, He is the same yesterday, today, and forever.
Even though people don't always like hearing God's truth, I will continue to speak it.
He told us to be the light of the world, that our light should not be hid so that it cannot be seen. And, in today's verses He told us that He commanded the light to shine out of darkness, to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.
In obedience to Him, I will continue to let my light shine and speak truth, whether it is liked, or not. Accepted, or not. Allowed, or not. Even if our freedom of speech is taken away, by those who are hateful towards those who love and honour Christ.
Hopefully, you will, also. Prayer abounds.
Until next time...
