In yesterday's Life with Lynnie (LwL) entry, I wrote about being hot, cold or lukewarm. Not just about my computer problems, but also with regards to what God expects of us.
Why is this important? Well, as was discussed yesterday, anyone lukewarm will be spued out of His mouth.
It's easy to understand how someone can be hot for God. This person will clearly place God first and foremost in their life.
Someone can be cold, by not accepting God at all. Or, His message of truth, as stated in His Word, the Bible.
You may be asking yourself how someone can be lukewarm with regards to God.
To me, this is someone who accepts God as being real, and even accepts Jesus, on a non-committal basis. But, is neither truly for Him, or against Him, making themselves lukewarm.
While it may due to each individual's commitment to Him, there may other reasons.
It may also be due to the fact that some are being led astray, in thinking that the Bible is not God's Word.
Still others think they can treat the Bible like a buffet, accepting this or that, and rejecting all else.
If they are like this, then they are probably walking through life being lukewarm; neither hot, nor cold. And, definitely not accepting Him, the way God wants us to.
God clearly hates this.
Jesus told us so in Matthew 7:21-23, "Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity."
In my time, I've known many people like this. People who claim to be Christian, but who do not accept God's Word, or try to live for Him. But rather, live for themselves.
I would hate to find out that anyone I knew stood before Christ one day, and were told to get away from Him, because He never knew them. Especially, if they were being led astray.
As always, I pray for people like this. And, for those who teach/preach a false gospel.
Until next time...
