I realize that this story has taken quite a while to tell. And, I apologize for this. If you haven't yet read recent Life with Lynnie (LwL) entries, I would suggest you do, so that you'll have the whole picture.
When I left off telling you about the raccoon, I felt like I was about to have heart failure! lol
If my friend M hadn't been with me, I probably would have gotten up from my seat at the picnic table only a few feet from the critter. But, the reality is, I was grateful she was with me. M helped keep me calm. :)
As you know, the raccoon was only about four (4) feet behind where I was seated. Maybe less, since it wiggled closer when it pulled over onto itself, the insulated bag that had been left on the seat of the table behind me.
While I was silently praying, my friend M clapped her hands together, loudly. I turned my head as she did this. Much to my surprise, the critter was nervous and began to step backwards.
Once again, I my heart began to race. After all, we are overrun with raccoons in our area, this year. And, many have been found to be rabid.
Believe me, the last thing I wanted to happen was to be attacked and bitten by this hungry raccoon!
Again, M clapped her hands. The furry critter backed up another step. Every time M did this, the result was the same. Eventually, it made it's way to the other side of the covered area, and walked behind the building.
We hoped it had gone and left the area. But, it hadn't.
Within a couple minutes, it came back. This time on the same side of the building as where I was seated.
By this time, I felt rather frustrated.
Yes, I silently prayed. And, M began clapping, once again. Slowly, but surely, the raccoon left our area. This time, it walked into the woods.
Yup! The same woods we had just walked through!
Some of my neighbour friends returned to enjoy their picnic lunch. And, some others joined us just to sit and relax in the shade. All were surprised when we told them what happened.
Then, I looked over at the corner of the property, sort of like a land's end situation. There it was! Of course, there was no guarantee it was the same critter, because they all look alike!
Since we were finished our lunch, we cleaned up our area and made our way to the dock, to wait for my friends to arrive with their boat. While there, we saw it swim across the cove.
Unbelievable! But, true! Yes, I was really happy when we got seated in the boat.
For sure, this will be a day I will never forget!
Talking about forgetting, am I ever glad that God doesn't remember our sin, once we have been saved. This is confirmed in Hebrews 8:12, "For I will be merciful to their unrighteousness, and their sins and their iniquities will I remember no more."
Praise God! Hallelujah!
Of course, it would be really great if we people, would be the same way. Wouldn't it be wonderful if people blotted out our indiscretions, after they forgave us? Wouldn't it be nice if everyone wanted to be obedient, and forgive!
I make every effort to do this. Do you? Hopefully, so!
Until next time...
