If you read yesterday's Life with Lynnie (LwL) entry, you'll know that on Thursday, my friend M came to my apartment complex for a swim and BBQ. You'll also know that I mentioned that I barbequed enough steak for our meal that day, and for an instant replay on Friday.
Why did I do this? It wasn't for my normal reason of freezing and/or reheating, so that I wouldn't have to use the BBQ, once again.
The reason I did this, was because I knew I would be going on a short boat ride, on Friday. To Peche Island (some people call it, Peach Island).
Some friends here in my apartment building, A & J, do something really kind once per year, for all who live here. They take people across part of the Detroit River, to Pech Island. And, bring them back later, as well.
Last year, was the first time I did this.
It was lovely. But, last year, some people came off the walking trails telling us to not go, because there were trees that had fallen across the paths. And, they knew with my bad knee, I wouldn't be able to climb over them.
As a result, I didn't do this. Nor, did I take a picnic lunch with me, so all in all last year's visit was a lovely, but short one. Yesterday, I wanted the trip to Peche Island to be something different than last year.
Knowing I was preparing a meal for M and I to share on Thursday, I decided I would make enough food to take with me to the island, for a picnic. So, that's what I did.
A & J had let us know that if we wanted to bring a guest, we could. Since M had visited on Thursday, I asked her to accompany me, on Friday.
M was so-o excited. Apparently, she had always wanted to visit Peche Island, but had never had the opportunity to do so.
Well, Friday was the day!
After packing up our meal, I met M down by our entrance, and boat slips. We sat at the water's edge on a picnic table until A & J, returned from taking a previous group of people across to the island.
Once those returning had exited, we boarded their pontoon boat.
It's a lovely one, that reminds me very much of the boat I had enjoyed time on, in Lake Havasu City, Arizona, USA, with my cousin E and her husband, a few years back.
The breeze on the water was so-o relaxing. We enjoyed our trip and docked within a few minutes at the island.
Well, there's much more to say about this, but it will have to wait until another time.
I must say though, that being on the water, reminded me of when Jesus walked on the water. No, He didn't do this, yesterday!
However, in the Bible, we are told how Jesus walked on the water and Peter saw him. Matthew 14:29 tells us, "And he said, Come. And when Peter was come down out of the ship, he walked on the water, to go to Jesus."
From this verse, I am always reminded how not only did Peter need to walk on the water to go to Jesus, but we need to, also. In fact, everyone needs to come to Jesus. There is no one who doesn't need Him.
He's the way to everlasting life, friend. If you don't already believe in Him, or are trusting in Him for your salvation, please do so, today. We're not guaranteed, tomorrow... and tomorrow, may be too late! Don't miss the boat!
Until next time...
