In yesterday's Life with Lynnie (LwL) entry, I wrote about worshipping at church, on Sunday. I wasn't finished with what I wanted to say, so I am continuing on, today.
Not only do I love to worship in spirit and in truth, but I love to worship my Lord, in song! And, today was one of those days. I enjoyed every piece of music we sang, at church.
Some people don't consider singing or songs to be worship, but in my mind, it is.
It may be because music is a part of me. When I sing, I sing from my heart. And, with God always on my mind.
Arriving home, I quickly got changed into some cooler and more comfortable clothing.
This was the day that my whole apartment complex has been looking forward to. This was our Deck Party & BBQ day!
Making my way to the deck where our pool is located, I joined in the fun along side of my friends and neighbours. There were many activities happening. Games of all sorts.
Bean bag toss tournament kept many people busy. So did a euchre tournament and poker games; I played neither. A golf putting competition was rather fun, even though I haven't been able to actually play golf in years.
Another fun game was the balloon darts game, where you throw darts in an effort to break a balloon. And, of course, Bingo was popular.
I wish I had remembered to bring my camera and take some pics, but unfortunately, I didn't. Sorry.
There was music that most of us in our age group knew and loved. Some did some line dancing.
We were fed delicious BBQ'd hotdogs and potato chips. Some drank alcoholic beverages (not provided). Some, like me, did not. Instead, I enjoyed a lovely cold bottle of water. Oh yes, I have to admit. I also splurged and actually drank a can of pop. Cream soda!
Of course, as the afternoon progressed, things changed a little.
The person in charge of the music, announced that they were going to allow anyone to sing karaoke, who wished to. Hmmm... that kind of surpised me, but made me very happy.
Two (2) years ago, I sang a capella, electing to not use the karaoke music. Last year, I wasn't able to sing, because karaoke wasn't offered, due to the fact that we had live entertainment.
But yesterday, I was the first of three (3) people to sing. The other two (2) used karaoke music. Once again, I did not.
Anyone who knows me well, knows that I like to change lyrics of well known songs just a little bit, in order to convert them into praise and/or worship songs.
Speaking of singing, this reminds me of Romans 15:9, "And that the Gentiles might glorify God for his mercy; as it is written, For this cause I will confess to thee among the Gentiles, and sing unto thy name."
The song I sang, was my rewritten Christian lyrical version of The Carpenter's, A Song For You.
Who knows? Maybe one day you'll hear me sing it. My version, I mean. The one that honours my Lord!
Until next time...
