Today, is Sonday. My Lord's day!
If you're a regular reader of Life with Lynnie (LwL), you'll know that I love going to church, to worship God! And today, was no different.
During the week, I had spoken with one of my sisters-in-Christ, A. A friend of mine, who used to be my prayer partner, before her life changed. Yes, we still talk by telephone and see each other. And yes, we still pray together. Just not on a daily basis, as before.
When I called her, it was to apologize. And, to wish her Happy Birthday. Happy Birthday, A!
You see, last Sunday, I was so-o very excited about having my daughter P accompany me to church for our worship service, that I completely forgot it was my friend A's birthday. Unfortunately, in all my excitement and happiness, I forgot to bring her card and gift and wish her Happy Birthday!
I was thankful that A was forgiving of me. As I've written lately, not every Christian is forgiving of others. But, A is. And, for this, I was truly grateful!
Today, when I arrived at church, I went card and gift in hand. My friend A, told me how I didn't need to do this, but I know that in reality, I did need to celebrate her... and her birthday, even if it was now late.
After all, shouldn't we celebrate those we love?
Once our worship service was over, I did a couple of errands, before going to visit yet another friend of mine, V. Today, is her birthday. But, there was another reason I needed to see her.
Recently, V was involved in a collision. One which totalled her car. Yes, it was a write-off.
V and I spoke by phone, recently. She told me how the collision took place. And, she told me how she has been suffering physically, ever since.
While visiting V this afternoon, she told me about a mutual friend of ours, J. Actually, J is a closer friend to V than I, for she used to date him. Apparently, J has cancer. He will begin chemotherapy, tomorrow.
Knowing that both V and J are in their 70's, doesn't make healing come easy, for either of them. If you can find it in your heart to pray for V and for J, please do so. Thank you, so very much. May God bless you...
Speaking of prayer, this reminds me of a Bible verse that is important to each of us who are trusting in our Lord, Jesus Christ. Philippians 4:6 tells us, "Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.
It's not easy being thankful in all things, as God wants us to be. But, it is necessary, as this verse shows us. And, we need to be praying... in thankfulness.
For sure, I am thankful that God made provision for us, to be able to approach Him in prayer.
Until next time...
