If you read yesterday's Life with Lynnie (LwL) entry, you'll know that I wrote about being really HOT!
You may be wondering why I have been so hot. Well, I decided that today, I would explain it.
In my apartment, I had a great air-conditioning unit. Truly, it ran great. Nice and cold. The trouble was that after a few minutes, the power breaker would blow.
Then, I'd have to shut off the unit, and wait five (5) minutes or so for it to cool down. Then, I could turn it on, once again. Only to find that after a few minutes, the breaker would blow, once again.
It didn't make sense to me to keep my apartment closed up while I waited for the air-conditioning unit to be ready to turn on, again. Just those few minutes of being closed up, in this intense heat, was enough to make me feel like I was going to pass out!
So instead, I elected to just keep my balcony door and bedroom window open, to allow some air to enter in my apartment. Even if it was hot air, at least it was air!
A while ago, I had our maintenance men come to my unit, to ask them if they would be able to change my air-conditioning unit, because I was going to purchase another unit. They discussed the situation with me.
We agreed that since I have access to a 220 volt plug, the 220 volt unit I wanted to purchase would work. And, work much better. Believe it or not, they are more energy efficient to operate, as well!
But, I did need to have a 220 volt extension cord made, so that the new unit would be able to be plugged in.
Knowing that sometime this week my 220 volt air-conditioning unit was due to arrive, I had a cord made up. Originally, I had been told to not have the cord made any longer than 10 feet. So, that's what I did!
It wasn't inexpensive to have this cord made up, but I was glad I did it!
Today, the unit arrived! And, the maintenance crew removed the older 110 volt unit and replaced it with my 220 volt unit.
Then, they told me that since the cord for the new unit was longer than expected, I either have to have the cord that I just paid to have made, either shortened, or have a new cord made, once again. Apparently, the shorter they are, the better the unit will work.
So, it looks like I'll be having another 220 volt extension cord made up. No sense in shortening the one I just had made. I'll keep just in case I need it for another unit.
I thank our building crew for doing this for me today, for once again the temperature was to be in the 100F/38C range, or higher. May God bless you for your caring hearts, to find time to do the work you did, so I could be comfortable for a change!
They assured me that they will come back to my unit to properly complete the fitting of the unit, at a later date. Probably about three (3) or so weeks.
In the meantime, they insulated around the unit, so it could be immediately used. And, it worked well!
Cool air poured out! Praise God! Thank You, Jesus! Relief from this intense heat! Yes, I'm happy! :)
Speaking of relief, I was reminded of Luke 16:24-25, "And he cried and said, Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus, that he may dip the tip of his finger in water, and cool my tongue; for I am tormented in this flame. But Abraham said, Son, remember that thou in thy lifetime receivedst thy good things, and likewise Lazarus evil things: but now he is comforted, and thou art tormented."
Yes, this intense heat of late, has reminded me of the heat I have experienced throughout my life. Life hasn't been kind to me, to be sure.
But, by trusting in Jesus for my salvation, I know that even though I will suffer in this lifetime, I know my reward will be later, when I spend eternity, in heaven with my Lord. How cool is this!
Hopefully, I will see you, there.
Until next time...
