Food for Thought!

Last Saturday was a really unique day for me!

Anyone who has been reading Life with Lynnie (LwL), knows that from time I do book-signing events, at various places.  Usually, either in Windsor or at least our Essex County area.

Most of these events have not been at bookstores, but rather at gatherings in various places from arenas, churches, etc.  Even so, I have usually been accompanied by fellow authors.

Saturday, was different.  Very different.

This book-signing event was held at Chapters bookstore, at Devonshire Mall, here in Windsor, Ontario, Canada.

When I arrived, the manager greeted me and assisted in preparing me for the afternoon.  K apologized to me, right away.  She commented how this date wasn't a great one for me to have been pencilled in, for a book-signing event.

After all, there were many other events happening that day in our area, including, but not limited to Art-in-the-Park and the Strawberry Fest.  And, many, many people attend these events!

Originally, the weather forecast called for rain, so it was thought that these other events, that compete with regular shopping areas, wouldn't draw a large crowd.  But, since the weatherman had predicted incorrectly, and it was a beautiful, sunny day, sales and customer traffic was slow at the mall.

K felt badly for me, because it seemed that most people were enjoying the day, elsewhere.  Once again, she apologized, telling me that I shouldn't count on doing much business, since there had been low customer traffic in the store, that morning.

I replied to her that it was okay, and began setting up.  After all, I was there.  There was no point in considering any changes.

As I arranged the table, I prayed silently.  Truly, I felt a little uncomfortable.  Having never attended an event like this in any bookstore, I just asked my Lord, to help me.

He did!

Before I even had a chance to sit down, a woman approached me, asking about my book.  After a short conversation together, she commented how she loves books that are inspirational.

Yes, she bought a copy of Love Never Fails You...  www.lynniebooks.blogspot.com

Even so, I continued to feel somewhat out of place.  Why?  Well, this time, I was alone.  No fellow authors.  No other people selling items they've created, or selling products for a company they work for.

Just me.  Well, sort of.  God was there.  And, so was a friend of mine, who decided to join me, to keep me company.

Hmmm... writing about this, reminds me that even though we sometimes feel out of place and alone, we aren't.  After all, God told us in 1 John 4:15, "Whosoever shall confess that Jesus is the Son of God, God dwelleth in him, and he in God."

So friend, if you are feeling alone and lonely, you may want to pray about this verse.  If God dwells in you, you cannot be alone, for He is with you, in you.  Just some food for thought...

I have much more to say about being at Chapters last Saturday, but it will have to wait until tomorrow.  See you, then!

Until next time...
