In yesterday's Life with Lynnie (LwL) entry, I wrote about my family and the needs they have, for prayer. Thank you, to all who prayed. May God bless each of you...
My friends A & K had invited me to dinner. They, along with their young daughter W and I enjoyed a delicious meal, together. Thank You friends! I appreciate not just the tasty food, but even more so, the fellowship time we spent together, talking and praying. May God bless you, for your Christian love towards me and others.
While driving, I was listening to a Christian radio programme where Keith and Kristen Getty were being interviewed. It was interesting hearing Keith's voice, especially knowing that he is from the same area my Irish family is from. Of course, he may be a distant relative, since my great-grandmother's maiden name was also Getty.
In any case, while driving and listening, one of the Getty's songs was played. In Christ Alone.
While I have several favourites, this is one song/hymn I truly enjoy. As it was played, I began singing along. At least, until I burst into tears.
Here is a Youtube link to the song:
For those who cannot access links, I'm posting the lyrics:
In Christ Alone (by Keith and Kristen Getty)
In Christ alone my hope is found
He is my light, my strength, my song
This Cornerstone, this solid ground
Firm through the fiercest drought and storm
What heights of love, what depths of peace
When fears are stilled, when strivings cease
My Comforter, my All in All
Here in the love of Christ I stand
In Christ alone, who took on flesh
Fullness of God in helpless babe
This gift of love and righteousness
Scorned by the ones He came to save
'Til on that cross as Jesus died
The wrath of God was satisfied
For every sin on Him was laid
Here in the death of Christ I live
There in the ground His body lay
Light of the world by darkness slain
Then bursting forth in glorious Day
Up from the grave He rose again
And as He stands in victory
Sin's curse has lost its grip on me
For I am His and He is mine
Bought with the precious blood of Christ
No guilt of life, no fear in death
This is the power of Christ in me
From life's first cry to final breath
Jesus commands my destiny
No power of hell, no scheme of man
Can ever pluck me from His hand
'til He returns or calls me home
Here in the power of Christ I'll stand
Feeling overwhelmed with my family's problems as well as my own personal problems, I found myself crying out to God for help. I'm trusting my Lord, for everyone's needs. All the while, I prayed and stated aloud repeatedly that here in the power of Christ, I'll stand.
Here in the power of Christ, I'll stand!
Until next time...
